31st of July, 9:00 - 10:00, A 014
This course is divided into two sections. The first section aims at giving some basic tools of political economics. In doing this, we deal with Downsian voting and probabilistic voting models and the citizen-candidate approach. We then discuss lobbying and rent-seeking theories. The graduate textbook Persson and Tabellini (2000) will be the core reference for the first part.
The second part is designed to provide the students with an insight into different topics on the research frontier.
Examination: There will be a written final exam (Exams: 2006 [pdf], 2005 [pdf], 2004 [pdf])
